Before departing, visit the beautiful Summer Palace, the lakeside summer retreat of Qing Dynasty emperors, where you can wander through landscaped gardens and take in serene views of Kunming Lake. After your visit, you’ll transfer to the train or airport for your trip to Xi’an, then check into your 5-star accommodation for the next three nights once you arrive.

Today is dedicated to one of the world’s greatest archaeological wonders: the Terracotta Army. Explore the massive underground pits where thousands of life-sized clay warriors have stood guard over Emperor Qin Shi Huang for more than 2,000 years. After touring the site, visit the home of the local farmer who first discovered the warriors in the 1970s, then get hands-on to sculpt your own mini clay warrior to take home as a unique souvenir. In the afternoon, visit the 7th-century Big Wild Goose Pagoda, a sacred Buddhist landmark that holds ancient scriptures brought back from India. This was my first trip to Asia, and this tour made me feel welcome and safe the entire time. Every transfer between cities was smooth, and our local guides in each city were friendly and knowledgeable. I already want to come back to China, and I’ll definitely book this same tour when my friends visit next year.

As someone who loves both history and nature, this tour was the perfect mix of both. I learned so much about Chinese imperial history walking around the Forbidden City in Beijing with our guide, who answered every question I had. Seeing the Terracotta Army in person was an unforgettable experience that photos just can’t do justice. Ending the trip with a slow cruise along the Li River was the perfect relaxing way to wrap up 9 days of exploring.

The karst scenery in Guilin and Yangshuo was even more stunning than photos I’d seen online. Our guide took us to a quiet local spot for sunset that wasn’t crowded with other tourists, which was such a nice surprise.

My consultant Lynn from HelloChinaTrip helped me adjust a small dietary request before I left, and she was so responsive the whole time. Every day of the tour flowed seamlessly, no waiting around or last minute changes, which made our vacation so stress-free. I loved going from the imperial palaces in Beijing to the ancient Terracotta Army in Xi’an, ending with the breathtaking karst mountains along the Li River in Yangshuo. All the meals were included and delicious, and the 5-star hotels exceeded my expectations. This is absolutely the tour I’d recommend to any first-time visitor to China.

Overall this tour was perfectly organized and we got to see all the incredible highlights we dreamed of: the Great Wall, Terracotta Army, and Li River scenery. The only downside was we visited during Chinese New Year break, which meant every major attraction was much more wonderful than expected. The 5-star accommodations were still top notch and all transportation ran on time, so we still had a fantastic trip.
