Check into your hotel 🏨, shake off travel fatigue, and feel free to wander nearby neighborhoods to catch your first glimpse of China’s most modern metropolis, whether you want to explore the Bund’s waterfront skyline or hunt for your first local street food snack.
🌟 Day 2: Shanghai (Wuxi Day Trip)
This morning we’ll leave Shanghai for a lovely day of exploration in historic Wuxi. First, we’ll take a leisurely walking tour through the scenic Huishan Ancient Town, where you can admire centuries-old brick architecture, quiet water lanes, and local handicraft workshops. Next, we’ll visit the iconic Jichang Garden, a classic Chinese scholar’s garden famous for its carefully designed rock formations, winding paths, and serene reflective ponds that feel like stepping into a traditional ink painting. We’ll head back to Shanghai in the evening to rest for the next leg of your trip 🏨.
🌟 Day 3: Shanghai to Xi'an
Today we’ll fly from Shanghai to Xi'an, the ancient imperial capital and original starting point of the Silk Road. After checking into your hotel 🏨, we’ll set off on a leisurely walking tour around Xi'an’s iconic Bell and Drum Towers, the historic heart of the city, where you’ll learn about ancient China’s imperial time-keeping traditions. Next, we’ll wander through the bustling centuries-old Muslim Quarter, a food lover’s paradise, where you’ll get to sample a range of iconic local street snacks 🍽️ from crispy beef flatbread to chewy hand-pulled noodles. Today is dedicated to one of China’s most incredible ancient wonders: the Terracotta Warriors. We’ll take you on a full guided tour of the world-famous archaeological site, where you’ll stand face to face with thousands of life-sized clay warriors, each carved with unique individual features, built over 2,000 years ago to guard Emperor Qin Shi Huang in the afterlife. We’ll head straight out of the city to the Jinshanling section of the Great Wall, where we’ll enjoy a leisurely sunset hike along the ancient fortifications. Watch the sun dip below rolling green hills, turning the centuries-old stone walls golden, for one of the most breathtaking views of the Great Wall you’ll ever experience. After the hike, we’ll stay overnight near the wall to prepare for tomorrow’s adventure 🏨.
🌟 Day 6: Jinshanling Great Wall
Today we’ll continue our exploration of the Jinshanling Great Wall, one of the best-preserved and least crowded sections of the entire site. We’ll embark on a roughly 2-hour guided hike along the wall, winding past historic watchtowers, stopping to take in panoramic views of the wall snaking over misty hills, and learning about the structure’s 2,000 years of history from your guide. After the hike, we’ll head back into central Beijing to check into your hotel 🏨 for the night.
🌟 Day 7: Beijing
This morning we’ll visit Tiananmen Square, the largest public square in the world and one of Beijing’s most iconic landmarks, before stepping into the adjacent Forbidden City, the centuries-old walled home of China’s imperial emperors. We’ll explore the sprawling palace complex, walking past crimson wooden palaces, gilded roof tiles, and lush imperial gardens, learning the hidden stories of the dynasties that once ruled China from this very spot. In the evening, we’ll gather for a special farewell dinner 🍽️ featuring iconic Beijing roast duck, the crispy, savory delicacy that’s a must-try on any trip to the capital.
