The itinerary was flexible enough that we could add a day of hiking near Lijiang when my kids asked, and the team accommodated it no problem. We had an absolutely lovely time exploring the minority villages and tasting local specialties across Lijiang, Kunming, and Xi'an. The only downside was unseasonably heavy rain the first three days that kept us from doing some of the outdoor walking portions we’d planned. Our guide still rearranged our itinerary perfectly to fit indoor cultural activities, so we didn’t lose much time.

I was nervous about planning a trip that covered Yunnan and Xi’an as a first-time visitor to China, but this tour took all the stress out of everything. Every transport transfer between Kunming, Lijiang, and Xi’an was smooth, and our guide spoke excellent English and was happy to answer all my endless questions about local history and traditions. I especially loved the day we spent in a small Lijiang village watching a traditional Naxi folk performance. I would book this exact tour again in a heartbeat.
