Curated to showcase Yunnan’s very best attractions, this itinerary delivers unbeatable value with competitive pricing and secure, trusted payment processing, letting you focus on enjoying your trip instead of worrying about unnecessary booking hassles or hidden extra costs.

This 7-day curated journey takes you through the very best of Yunnan’s diverse scenery and culture, starting in Kunming — the mild, year-round "City of Eternal Spring". You’ll travel west to Dali’s idyllic lakeside, wander centuries-old ethnic minority towns, then head north through dramatic canyon landscapes to the misty highlands of Shangri-la. Finally, you’ll loop south to Lijiang, the cultural heart of the Naxi people, to wrap up your trip. This route balances jaw-dropping natural scenery, immersive cultural experiences, and casual exploration, built for travelers who want to see top sights without the stress of large crowded tours.
Today is your arrival day in Yunnan’s charming capital! Settle into your accommodation at your own pace, wander the nearby streets to sample local street snacks if you’d like, and get rested up for your week of Yunnan exploration.
Kick off your full first day with an included hearty breakfast 🍽️. Start with a leisurely stroll around scenic Green Lake Park, where locals practice tai chi and blooming lotuses dot the water in warm months. Next, visit the otherworldly Stone Forest, a dramatic karst landscape of jagged limestone formations that feel like something out of a fairy tale. After exploring, you’ll travel to Dali and check into your hotel for the night 🏨.
After your included morning breakfast 🍽️, spend the day diving into traditional Bai ethnic culture. First, wander the quiet cobblestone lanes of well-preserved Xizhou Old Town, lined with historic Bai courtyard homes. Next, sit down for a tasting of Xizhou’s famous local three-course tea, a traditional Bai experience that blends sweet, bitter, and savory flavors. Then head to nearby Zhoucheng Village, the birthplace of Yunnan’s iconic tie-dye craft, where you’ll visit a local family workshop, learn traditional techniques, and make your own one-of-a-kind tie-dye souvenir to take home. You’ll return to your Dali hotel 🏨 for the night.
Fuel up with your included breakfast 🍽️ before heading north to Shangri-la’s highlands. Along the way, stop to take in the sweeping distant view of the First Bend of the Yangtze River, where the mighty river cuts a dramatic curve through the mountains. Next, explore world-famous Tiger Leaping Gorge, one of the deepest canyons on the planet. You’ll take a leisurely walk along the Upper Gorge, tracing the roaring banks of the Jinsha River while soaking in cliffside views. Once you arrive in Shangri-la, end your day with a relaxing stroll through the lantern-lit lanes of 1,300-year-old Dukezong Ancient Town, then check into your hotel 🏨.
Start your highland day with an included breakfast 🍽️, then head to Songzanlin Monastery, Yunnan’s largest Tibetan Buddhist monastery often called the "Little Potala Palace". You’ll explore the golden-roofed temple complex and immerse yourself in the peaceful traditions of Tibetan Buddhism. Next, visit stunning Napahai Lake, a highland wetland where migratory birds gather and snow-capped peaks reflect in calm waters. End your day with a warm, intimate visit to a local Tibetan family home, where you’ll experience authentic highland hospitality and learn about daily life in Shangri-la. Return to your hotel 🏨 for the night.
After your included morning breakfast 🍽️, travel south from the Shangri-la highlands to the ancient Naxi city of Lijiang. Once you arrive, wander the winding UNESCO-listed lanes of Lijiang Old Town, where wooden courtyards line crystal-clear ancient canals. Next, visit tranquil Black Dragon Pool Park, a scenic green space with reflecting pools that offer postcard views of snow-capped Jade Dragon Snow Mountain. Finish your day at the Dongba Culture Museum, where you’ll learn about the unique ancient writing and traditions of the Naxi ethnic people, then check into your Lijiang hotel 🏨.
Enjoy your final included breakfast 🍽️ before exploring charming lesser-known ancient Naxi towns around Lijiang. First, wander the quiet cobblestone lanes of Shuhe Old Town, an ancient trading town far less crowded than central Lijiang. Next, head to Baisha Old Town, home to the famous Baisha Murals — centuries-old vibrant artworks that blend multiple religious traditions. End your tour with a visit to Yuhu Naxi Minority Village, a traditional rural village sitting at the foot of Jade Dragon Snow Mountain, where you can soak in stunning mountain views and experience authentic rural Naxi life. Your 7-day Yunnan tour concludes here after today’s exploration.

I was nervous about booking a group tour to such a unique, remote part of China, but this mini group experience turned out to be totally perfect. Our small group of only 8 people meant we never felt herded along, and we had plenty of time to stop for photos, chat with local people, and try delicious street food at our own pace. I loved how the itinerary balanced big iconic spots like Jade Dragon Snow Mountain with smaller cultural stops like a local Naxi village outside Lijiang. Kunming’s mild weather and vibrant flower markets were such a lovely gentle start to the week, and the dramatic alpine landscapes of Shangri-la at the end left me completely speechless. I would recommend this tour to anyone who loves nature, culture, and stress-free travel without the hassle of planning every detail yourself.

This 7-day Yunnan highlights tour exceeded every one of my travel expectations.

We did this tour over New Year holiday in early January, which turned out to bring unexpected peak crowds at Lijiang Old Town and Jade Dragon Snow Mountain. We still hit every scheduled stop on time, but we waited longer than expected for cable car tickets up the mountain. The scenery across all four destinations was absolutely breathtaking, from the blue waters of Erhai Lake to the rolling Tibetan grasslands of Shangri-la. The only downside was the holiday crowds, an objective factor that stops this from being a perfect 5-star trip.

My consultant Will from HelloChinaTrip put this tour together perfectly for our small group of four friends. We got to see all the iconic spots from Kunming’s green lakes to Shangri-la’s snow-capped mountains without feeling rushed. The mini group size meant we got plenty of flexibility at each stop.
