Kunming’s vibrant flower markets alone were worth the trip, but every subsequent destination kept topping the last. Dali’s waterfront promenades and Lijiang’s cobblestone old town had so much character, and Shangri-La’s sweeping mountain views took my breath away. This adventure tour is ideal for anyone who loves nature and experiencing new cultures a little off the beaten path.

I went on this tour with two of my best friends and we all agreed it was the highlight of our year traveling through Asia. The wild landscapes of Yunnan felt like stepping into another world, with deep green gorges, bright blue alpine lakes, and charming ancient towns that still feel completely authentic. Our local guide shared so many interesting stories about the region’s diverse ethnic cultures that made the trip far more meaningful than a standard sightseeing tour. Every accommodation was comfortable and clean, and the transportation between cities was smooth and stress-free.

Hiking the mountain trails outside Lijiang and drinking fresh butter tea with local families in Shangri-La was such a magical experience. This tour perfectly balances adventure and relaxation, so you never feel rushed jumping from one destination to the next.

Our consultant Sunny from HelloChinaTrip was super helpful in adjusting our itinerary when we had a last minute flight change, which we really appreciated. The landscapes across Yunnan are even more stunning than photos can capture, from Erhai Lake in Dali to the rolling meadows of Shangri-La. My only complaint is that we visited during spring break, so several popular scenic spots were far more wonderful than we expected. That said, the tour team did a great job shifting our start times earlier to avoid the worst of the crowds. Overall it was a fantastic adventure with just one small downside.

Every stop was perfectly planned, from Kunming’s mild, comfortable weather to the snow-capped peaks around Lijiang. Our guide knew all the best hidden spots away from the main tourist crowds, and the local food we tried was unforgettable. I can’t recommend this tour enough for anyone craving wild, beautiful nature.
